So how are those resolutions working out for you?

Back in November, I wrote to you about resolutions, and how the holiday hype can lead us down the path to making lofty promises to ourselves just to say we've done our New Year's Resolutions. Which, if you think about it, really doesn't help long-term, does it?

I had a coach ask me on Instagram recently what my big coaching goals are for 2023. And I had to answer him honestly and say that I don't know yet.

I'm allowing things to unfold more lately, instead of trying to force and plan and "effort" my way through the year, I'm allowing it to come to me.

I had a great time with the first round of my Live Your Best (Horsey) Life course that just wrapped up, and have ideas to expand on that and re-launch in May. I also have plans for a workshop/course about Tapping for Horsewomen. More information to come on that one.

Through this process, I've discovered I actually enjoy going Live on Facebook. I'm toying with the idea of a podcast. I'm looking for parts of my business that are fun as well as useful. I love a beautiful Instagram post as much as the next person, but I'm not willing to spend an hour designing one in Canva! Bring on the candids!

One of my coaches has encouraged those of us in her group to get rid of all the heavy things in our business (and life) that are dragging us down. One of us hates Instagram, but loves TikTok - so Lindsay said - "Go do Tik Tok!"

I was finding it challenging writing weekly blog posts and emails and showing up on Instagram and Facebook and run my course, so for a few weeks - I skipped the emails and the blog posts. Oddly enough, the world seems to still be firmly attached to its axis...

What does that have to do with you? I want to encourage you to look at the goals you've set for your Horsey Life. Are you telling yourself everything will be better once you have XXX? Are you waiting to achieve the goal before you allow yourself some happiness/free time/extra time with your horse?

What about the run up to achieving those goals? Does the idea of working toward them make you feel good, or are you white-knuckling just to get to that arbitrary date in the future?

Here's a suggestion - spend an extra 10 minutes with your horse the next time you're at the barn. Grab that book you've been wanting to read, but felt guilty taking some time "just" for enjoyment.

The point, my friend, is that life is for living. Not planning, not goal-setting, not spending years doing something that robs us of joy so that we can get to a place where we can be joyful.

Go forth and Live Your Best (Horsey) Life - and have some fun while you're at it!

Until next time, Love Your Horse, Love Your Life, Love Your Self

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm sorry this email is arriving to you a day late - add tech gremlins and a migraine to a holiday week and it just throws everything off! Last week I promised a 25% discount on The Horsey Life Planners from my Etsy shop. They're available in both printable and digital format - the digital version works on your tablet with a program like Goodnotes. The coupon code is SAVE25, and it's good through December 8th. As an added bonus, if you purchase a...

Last week's rain and warmer temperatures deserted us yesterday in favor of some light snow,❄️ wind, and high temps in the 40s. It. Was. Not. Pleasant! I guess considering it's nearly the end of November, I can't really complain! I'm having a great time writing weekly posts for Aging Horsewomen International over on Facebook. The longer versions are on my blog, as usual. Information about my new course and how to become a beta tester will be in next week's newsletter - you'll be able to take...

August23, 2023 Late summer changes & challenges. For those of you who stuck with my long email last week - thank you! This week's will be much shorter, I promise. 😁 The days are also getting shorter, and, in contrast to the spring shedding season which heralds warmer weather, late summer's shed is a whole different feeling. Having grown up in CT, fall was not my favorite time of year, because it ushered in a long, cold, and dark winter. Not Alaska-strength long, cold, and dark, but dark...
