I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm sorry this email is arriving to you a day late - add tech gremlins and a migraine to a holiday week and it just throws everything off! Last week I promised a 25% discount on The Horsey Life Planners from my Etsy shop. They're available in both printable and digital format - the digital version works on your tablet with a program like Goodnotes. The coupon code is SAVE25, and it's good through December 8th. As an added bonus, if you purchase a...

Last week's rain and warmer temperatures deserted us yesterday in favor of some light snow,❄️ wind, and high temps in the 40s. It. Was. Not. Pleasant! I guess considering it's nearly the end of November, I can't really complain! I'm having a great time writing weekly posts for Aging Horsewomen International over on Facebook. The longer versions are on my blog, as usual. Information about my new course and how to become a beta tester will be in next week's newsletter - you'll be able to take...

August23, 2023 Late summer changes & challenges. For those of you who stuck with my long email last week - thank you! This week's will be much shorter, I promise. 😁 The days are also getting shorter, and, in contrast to the spring shedding season which heralds warmer weather, late summer's shed is a whole different feeling. Having grown up in CT, fall was not my favorite time of year, because it ushered in a long, cold, and dark winter. Not Alaska-strength long, cold, and dark, but dark...

July 27, 2023 A quick overview of the podcast so far... TLDR: Check out the links to listen or watch the episodes. Just about two weeks ago I launched my podcast for horsewomen: Find Yourself, on a Horse. It’s been a fun, exciting, (and somewhat scary) experience! It’s really taking me out of my comfort zone. I’m good at helping women develop a toolkit to solve challenges with their horses. I taught “live” for decades, and I’m now coaching and running courses online - but for some reason,...

August 1, 2023 It's FINALLY Live!! So, the podcast was actually supposed to go live this morning... which it did... except I had uploaded the WRONG file!! Instead of sounding reasonably intelligent (or at least intelligible), I started talking about my mission, and ended up saying my mission was to figure out how to change to the next slide!! OOPS!! (Memo to self - IMMEDIATELY delete all drafts you're not going to use!!) Anyway - after a bit of panic about how to get the episode back down...

July 27, 2023 A quick peek behind the scenes at The Horsey Life It's been a busy few months here in Virginia. I was sidelined by a mystery illness for several weeks, which meant postponing the launch of my new podcast, Find Yourself, on a Horse. I'm starting to feel better now, and part of the reason is that one project that's been in the works for a bit has been completed - Laddie and Bella have moved home! It's been a few years since we had horses living at home, and I'm loving it! Laddie,...

Back in November, I wrote to you about resolutions, and how the holiday hype can lead us down the path to making lofty promises to ourselves just to say we've done our New Year's Resolutions. Which, if you think about it, really doesn't help long-term, does it? I had a coach ask me on Instagram recently what my big coaching goals are for 2023. And I had to answer him honestly and say that I don't know yet. I'm allowing things to unfold more lately, instead of trying to force and plan and...

Laddie and Bella in their sheets

For the first time this season, Laddie and Bella have their sheets on. It hasn't gotten out of the 30s all day, and it's raining. (And yes, I still live in Virginia!) Nasty, cold rain - yuck! First time wearing their sheets this season I don't typically start with sheets until it gets quite cold, and reserve the blankets for windy, snowy, and cold weather, or just stretches of super-cold; but, between the cold, the rain, and the wind, I decided I'd rather have the horses dry and cozy,...

It seems impossible that it's already November. I spent the first of the month in bed with a reaction to my second Shingles vaccine - a temperature of 101, headache, chills, aches - not fun! Today I worked from home, but took feeding duties back over from my husband who's fed for me the last couple of days. The horses are getting fuzzier by the minute, and Laddie was caked in mud. I always take this as a good sign, since it means he was able to roll AND get back up - always good for a 32...
